Craig Midgett is a beekeeper and beekeeping educator based in Columbia, Tennessee, and works from HillCo's Dickson, Tennessee location. He began keeping bees in 2017 and now manages nearly 60 colonies across four apiaries.
Through Spring Haven Homestead, Craig produces local and barrel-aged honey, other hive products, and 10–20 nucleus colonies each season. His operation has grown into a self-sustaining apiary, with a 1,400-pound honey harvest from 18 production colonies in spring 2026 and a 6% colony loss during the 2025–2026 overwintering period.
Craig also manages two research apiaries focused on colony and environmental health and has presented beekeeping courses at state and regional conferences. He is a member of the Columbia Area Beekeepers Association and the Nashville Area Beekeepers Association.
A HillCo customer since 2021, Craig joined the company in 2026 as Education Programming Director. He develops product and educational content and helps build classroom and hands-on learning programs for HillCo's upcoming Dickson location. He also draws on his experience mentoring with Hives for Heroes to help beekeepers develop practical skills and overcome common challenges.
Joey's relationship with HillCo began as a customer before he started working with the company in 2024 and 2025 to assist with the North American Honey Bee Expo. In early 2025, he joined HillCo full-time as Marketing Manager and a Sales Team Member, bringing his experience from the bee yard to the industry side of the business.
He is a member of the Alamance County Beekeepers Association, the Toe Cane Beekeepers Association, and the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association. Joey frequently travels to other state and regional conferences with HillCo, where he enjoys connecting with other beekeepers, sharing practical knowledge, and staying engaged with the broader apiculture community. He has also served as a mentor for Hives for Heroes.
Craig has presented educational programs at state and regional beekeeping conferences and has mentored through Hives for Heroes. Through his work at HillCo, he contributes to educational initiatives designed to help beekeepers develop practical skills and apply sound management techniques in their own apiaries.
