Loving how easy this Melter is !

Since we are a small scale operation right now. We started this year with 7 hives and now have 12 Queen right hives. We got this Solar melter to make it easier through out the season melting comb as we scrape it off the frames or cleaning up old frames. It has been so easy just taking what comb we get off the hives on each inspection and just putting it in the melter and let it go to work. Most days our melter is sitting in our greenhouse and it still melts the wax. But on sunny days we bring out into the direct sun and it works much faster. We keep the pan scraped off every few days of non-wax leftovers. We will see when we get capping's after harvesting our honey if we use this or the water bath melting. I highly recommend this Solar Wax Melter, Thanks Hillco as always for outstanding products.

Very nice, some small design issues.

First off, I love this wax melter. It works great, but could be even better. It makes the most yellow wax, in one melting, than I made last year with a two step process. That being said, here are 3 items that would fix a few things.
1) the rod that holds the upper pan needs a second hole on just one side to hold it in place.
2) the catch pan needs to be 1 inch wider than the upper pan. The wax misses the lower pan unless you align them perfectly.
3) include some instructions, even just a small sheet of paper.
At $185 I believe these could be accomplished at no additional cost.

Final word is get ya one and enjoy melting wax.

Nice solar melter, only issue that I had was with the pan to catch wax, if it was a little wider would be allot better, other than that works well

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT

I think this will work out fine . I wish it was wider to accommodate queen excluders. melting the wax off the excluders saves time would be a great addition. My home made does the job but not as pretty.
